On December 14, 1999, I and an assistant interviewed a legendary figure of Ufology, John P. Timmerman, investigator and treasurer for the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies. John has studied the UFO question for more than 20 years and was a close friend and associate of Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Dr. Hynek was founder of CUFOS and the first scientific consultant contracted by the U.S. Air Force to examine UFO sightings from 1948 to 1968.

John Timmerman is currently Public Relations officer for CUFOS and maintains the CUFOS photo archive, as well as over 1,000 UFO case files. The Center for UFO Studies' main office, led by Dr. Mark Rodeghier, is based in Chicago, Illinois.
The purpose of this interview was to include John's comments in a 90 minute UFO documentary program that I had been producing entitled, "The Edge of Reality: UFO Witnesses Speak Out", a forerunner of the January 5, 2000 Illinois UFO documentary. After years of frustration in an attempt to sell this completed program to a mainstream American television network and with no apparent chance of seeing the program broadcast, I have decided to make John's complete interview available here.
John's reflections are those of man who has lived and breathed the long and arduous search for the truth behind the UFO phenomenon. He has given generously of his life to the quest for answers to perhaps the greatest riddle mankind has and ever will face: What is the relationship between the UFO and mankind's place here on Earth and in the universe?
I am proud to be able to present this interview with John. I thank him for all he has done in assisting me with photos for my production work and all that he has given to the field of Ufology.
